Genevieve Gill is the founder and principal of Genlaw Barristers and Solicitors. Genevieve is a senior Commercial lawyer specialising in Information Technology Law and Commercial Contract negotiation for almost twenty years, making Genevieve one of the most experienced Information Technology lawyers in New Zealand.

Originally from Canada, Genevieve holds degrees in both Business Management (Ryerson 1986) and Law (Queens 1989). Genevieve later completed her MCommLaw(Hons) and a post graduate Diploma in Professional Ethics at Auckland University, in 1997 and 2008 respectively.

Prior to establishing Genlaw in 2002 Genevieve was General Counsel to the New Zealand subsidiary of a large multinational IT vendor, and later worked in private practice as an Information Technology Law specialist at one of New Zealand’s leading law firms.

Genevieve provides pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice to both new business ventures and established businesses in both the public and private sectors. Her depth of experience with information technology contracts and working with technology sector stakeholders has provided Genevieve with an excellent understanding of current industry practice, and insight into the most recent industry developments and trends.

Genevieve is a regular speaker at industry related seminars and events, and is often asked to provide commentary to the media on topical issues relating to her areas of expertise.
